DALLAS - Sean Jones' season for the Marquette men's basketball team came to an end when he suffered a torn ACL in his right knee against Butler on Jan. 10.

The 5-foot-10 sophomore guard has been rehabbing the injury while also being an engaged sidelined presence as the Golden Eagles have made a run in the NCAA Tournament.

He took a few minutes on Thursday in MU's locker room to update his progress:

Marquette sophomore guard Sean Jones is rehabbing the torn ACL in his right knee that he suffered in January.

People always ask about how you are doing. Where are you at physically right now?

Jones: Physically, I got full motion in my leg. So just trying to keep that. Doing exercises every day to extend my knee. Get it all the bent, get it all the way straight. So that's what I'm doing physically. Squats, stuff like that.

What's the timeline that they have given you?

Jones: Probably eight-to-nine more months.

Do they expect to get back to full speed?

Jones: Yeah.

Sean Jones, shown joking around with teammate Kam Jones, has remained an engaged presence on the Marquette team despite his injury.

What is the mentality you've taken or talked with (MU coach) Shaka (Smart) about for the rehab?

Jones: Just treating it like the games. Like it's my game. So every morning just going into it with the mindset of doing everything I can to get a step further that day.

How have you stayed engaged with the team during this tournament run?

Jones: Just by being around. Being around the team. Being at all the meetings. Being a voice for my teammates to hear from. Being engaged during the games, being excited when stuff's going on.

What are the mental reps that you are doing? Are you watching film with Coach Dre (DeAndre Haynes) or anything like that? What are the mental reps that you are doing to get better?

Jones: Just watching the guards. Watching Tre (Norman). Watching TK (Tyler Kolek). Reporting to Dre sometimes after the game.

When you watch during the game, are you an emotional guy? Are you cheering? Or are you kind of cerebrally watching everything?

Jones: I would say I'm cerebral when stuff is not going our way. I'm just calm when stuff is not going our way. But when we're making runs or when we have something good happen, that's when I get a little hyped up.
